Over 33,000 trees at Maruti Suzuki’s Rohtak R&D facility have been benefitting with a simple and small innovation.
The innovation of recycling bio-degradable waste and putting it to better use!
Being an environmentally conscious organisation, Maruti Suzuki has undertaken multiple environment friendly initiatives to enhance the green cover at its facilities. Aligned to this thought, the Company installed a composter machine at its Rohtak facility to recycle bio-degradable waste helping provide soil nutrients to over 33 thousand trees. The ‘Smart Xpress 100’, converts 100 kg of cooked and raw food waste into useful compost. The machine runs 24 hours and takes 1 day to convert the waste into compost.
Moreover, the Rohtak facility, similar to the Gurugram and Manesar facilities has installed drip irrigation system to save approximately 60% more water as compared to conventional/flood irrigation system. Water usage is optimised basis the site condition and plant characteristics. Simultaneously, fertilizers are also provided through drip system to the roots of the plant, avoiding any wastage.
